Introduction

The Apple Grove Unified School District is committed to providing a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment for all students. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for student behavior and the procedures we follow to maintain a productive educational environment.

Rights and Responsibilities

Student Rights

  • Receive a quality education in a safe, supportive environment
  • Be treated with respect and dignity by all school community members
  • Express opinions and ideas in a respectful manner
  • Have personal information handled confidentially
  • Due process in disciplinary matters
  • Access support services and resources

Student Responsibilities

  • Attend school regularly and arrive on time
  • Complete assigned work to the best of their ability
  • Follow school and classroom rules
  • Respect the rights and property of others
  • Report unsafe behavior or conditions
  • Accept consequences for their actions

Behavior Expectations

Academic Integrity

Students are expected to maintain academic honesty in all assignments, tests, and projects. This includes:

  • Completing their own work
  • Properly citing sources
  • Not sharing work with others unless authorized
  • Not using unauthorized materials during tests

Attendance

Regular attendance is essential for academic success. Students must:

  • Arrive on time for school and all classes
  • Provide documentation for absences
  • Follow proper check-in/check-out procedures

Dress Code

Students should dress appropriately for an educational environment:

  • Clothing must be clean and in good repair
  • No offensive or inappropriate messages/images
  • Appropriate coverage for school setting
  • Safe footwear required at all times

Digital Citizenship

When using technology, students must:

  • Use district devices and networks responsibly
  • Protect personal and others' privacy
  • Follow social media guidelines
  • Report cyberbullying or inappropriate content

Consequences

Progressive Discipline Levels

Level 1 - Minor Infractions

  • Verbal warning
  • Teacher conference
  • Parent contact
  • Loss of privileges

Level 2 - Significant Infractions

  • Parent conference
  • Detention
  • Behavior contract
  • Saturday school

Level 3 - Major Infractions

  • Administrative referral
  • In-school suspension
  • Out-of-school suspension
  • Possible expulsion

Appeals Process

Students and parents have the right to appeal disciplinary decisions:

  1. Submit written appeal to principal within 5 days
  2. Principal reviews and responds within 5 days
  3. If unsatisfied, appeal to District Office within 5 days
  4. District level hearing within 10 days
  5. Final decision communicated in writing
